"A Map of Pennsylvania, with Part of the Adjacent States from the Latest Surveys", Morse, Jedidiah (Rev.)

Published in the second edition of The American Universal Geography from 1793 this first edition map focuses on Pennsylvania but extends to include New Jersey and parts of Delaware, Maryland, and New York. There is no Erie triangle indicating the map was drawn prior to 1792. Delaware is shown separated from Pennsylvania by a dotted line. Roads are denoted with fine dotted lines, watershed is well shown and many settlements are named. Locates Berlin, Pittsburgh, Mead's Mill, Fort Franklin, Bedford, Greencastle, Shepherds T., Mt. Vernon, Buffalo Swamp, etc. The highest point in Pennsylvania is located. Compass rose at lower right orients north to the top of the page. Curiously, the lettering for Lake Ontario, Lake George and Oneida Lake are upside down, and Oneida Lake includes a second inscription that is correctly oriented. Longitude is measured from Washington at bottom and Philadelphia at top. Pennsylvania is spelled with two n's on the map but with one in the title.
