This very uncommon map and plate are from the 1817 Dublin edition of Paul Allen's History of the Expedition Under the Command of Captains Lewis and Clarke, to the Sources of the Missouri.... The map focuses on the stretch of Missouri River around Great Falls. It depicts good detail of the portage route around the falls and contains numerous notations about the river. The plate is one of the earliest to depict the falls.
