"An Accurate Map of North America with the New Discoveries", Neele, Samuel John

This striking small map of North America was printed by David Ramsay for The New Gazetteer; or, Modern Geographical Index. The United States is confined to east of the Mississippi while the Spanish control the west. Quivira appears in the northwest, as does the River of the West, which empties into the Entrance of Juan de Fuco. The site of Sir Francis Drake's landing is identified, with the adjacent coastal area labeled as New Albion. Rivers, some cities, and several Indian tribes are named, including the Cenis in Texas.
