This lot includes three copper engravings from Calmet's encyclopedic dictionary on all aspects of the history, geography, and culture of the Bible and Biblical times. The first two engravings show various elevations and plans for Solomon's Temple based on the imaginative reconstructions of Juan Bautista Villalpando, whose work was based on the assumption that the buildings of Jerusalem were designed using the laws of geometry according to God's vision. The third engraving depicts a bird's-eye view of Solomon's Temple. Size varies slightly.
