This attractive map of South America is based upon Sanson's map of the region. The relatively unknown Amazon region is left without speculation. However, the mythical Lag. Di Parime, with Manoa Dorado (city of gold) on its western shore, appears in Guyana. The various captaincy settlements in Brazil are named and there is considerable detail of towns and cities. The decorative title cartouche is engraved on a blanket held up by two Indians.

Rossi's matching map of North America is also being offered in lot 97, and would make for an attractive pairing.
