A. Carte du Detroit Entre le Lac Superieur Et Le lac Huron... (6.2 x 8.3"). Small map of the strategic passage in the Upper Lakes system, which was so important to the colonial fur trade. Shows Lake Superior and Huron connected by the Straits of Mackinac and depicts numerous islands, forts and missions. Adorned with a nice compass rose. Engraved by Desbruslins. Condition: Light spots in the image with one tiny pinhole in the lower blank margin.

B. Carte des Bayes, Rades et Port de Plaisance... (11 x 7.5"). Chart of Placentia Harbor and Argentia Harbor on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland. The French fort, village, and battery are shown at the harbor entrance. These harbors were used to overwinter fleets and the harbors are so marked. Engraved by Dheulland. Condition: Issued folding with faint offsetting and a few tiny holes (one of which is archivally repaired) in unengraved areas.

C. Plan du Port Dauphin et de Sa Rade avec l'Entree de Labrador (11 x 7.5"). This finely engraved chart shows Port Dauphin on the northeast coast of Isle Royale (Cape Breton Island). Locates the walled fort Dauphin (today's Englishtown) on the southern shore. An inset details the fort and its battery. Handsome chart with two distance scales and compass rose with fleur-de-lis. Condition: Issued folding on watermarked paper with faint offsetting and a somewhat uneven impression at top.
