"[Lot of 2] Division des Fortifications [and] Parcs d'Artillerie", Mortier, Pierre

These two engravings are from Mortier's edition of Les Forces de l'Europe, which closely copied Nicolas de Fer's book of the same title. The book was published at the time of the War of Spanish Succession and detailed famous cities and strong fortresses associated of interest during the war.

A. Division des Fortifications, (10.5" x 7"). This engraving depicts diagrams and cross-sections of different types of fortifications, with a key at bottom explaining various architectural features of the fortifications.

B. Parcs d'Artillerie, (11.3" x 7.5"). This engraving shows a bird's eye view of a weapons gallery, with numerous soldiers standing guard.
