This delightful etching was drawn and etched by Thomas Rowlandson, famous for his English caricatures. It is from the humorous adventures of the fictional character, Dr. Syntax, a 19th-century English schoolmaster. Rowlandson illustrated the series and then commissioned William Combe to write narrative about the adventures of Dr. Syntax. This view depicts a chaotic scene in an antiquarian bookstore.
