First state of this splendid map depicting the travels of St. Paul throughout the Eastern Mediterranean based on various sources. The title cartouche is flanked by two Biblical views including the shipwreck of the Apostle Paul at Malta. At the bottom is a verse of scripture from St. Paul's letters (Corinthians, 2:5). The Mediterranean Sea is highlighted with a pair of sea monsters and sailing ships. French text on verso.

Condition: A

Wide margins with gilt foredges. A few unobtrusive spots at bottom and a short tear in bottom blank margin have been closed on verso with archival tape.
