While focused on Southeast Asia, this map covers most of Asia from India through China, Korea and Japan. It presents a great amount of information due to increased geographical knowledge of the region derived from the English East India Company, which was fervently competing with the French and Dutch for predominance in the region. Most of the inland detail was derived from the missionary efforts of the Jesuits. The title cartouche features a Chinese and Indian trader with their rich and luxurious wares.
