A fine etching from Piranesi's important View of Rome. View of the Palace built on the Quirinal for the Papal Secretaries. The Palazzo della Consulta, built 1732-1735, is a late Baroque palace in Rome. Originally designed by Ferdinando Fuga during the papacy of Clement XII, it initially housed the papal tribunal termed the Consulta and the secretariat of the Brevi as well as two corps of papal guards. It now houses the Constitutional Court of the Italian Republic. First published in 1749, this is the fourth state with Piranesi's address at Palazzo Tomati vicino all Trinita de'monti, with the price removed from the plate, first Paris edition.
