This uncommon Railroad map and timetable self folds into covers (3.5 x 6.5") titled "New Map of Our Country from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Also, Time Table of the Hannibal & St. Joseph Rail Road Line, The Short Route West." The 25 inch wide map is printed in blue and details the rail routes west to San Francisco. It includes most of the United States but does not extend further north than New York, thus showing only a portion of Iowa, Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon and so on. Fancy Victorian style titling. The blank margins contain advertising promoting the system, Pullman Palace Sleeping Cars, etc. On the verso is the timetable and other advertising panels. OCLC shows only three examples.

The map is generally sound but has an area of light water stain along bottom. When folded the lower right tip is torn away which when opened presents several semi-circle areas of loss along the lower margin with some loss along the bottom that affects some words in the lower margin of the map but does not reach the map border.
