An elephant folio historical atlas in French; forerunner to the familiar Carey & Lea/ Buchon atlases. Engraved frontispiece of Napoleon's Empire and 32 double-page plates, incorporating chronological, historical and genealogical tables with 14 maps which include a double hemispheric world map and continents, but not including the map of the Western Hemisphere. Sold as a set of maps, NOT as a complete atlas.

Condition:

The covers are perished and the title page is missing, the engraved frontispiece being the first page present. Frontispiece has water stain across lower 1/3, but the fourteen maps on remaining pages are generally very good.
