This incredible panoramic view measures more than six feet in width. It provides a very impressive and detailed view of the great capital of the Ottoman Empire. The Dutch painter and traveler, Cornelius de Bruyn, traveled to Constantinople and the empire between 1677 and 1684. All the spires, minarets, mosques and especially the Aya Sophia are depicted here and the Bosphorus is filled with a variety of ships and boats. De Bruyn's account of his travels through the Ottoman empire between 1677 & 1684 was profusely illustrated with engravings made from his drawings and sketches, which are noted for their objectivity and exactness. Printed on 3 joined sheets, as issued. First published in 1698 with a French translation in 1700 and an English edition in 1702.
