This is a great view of the Assyrian capital, Ninive (Nineveh), modern-day Mosul, Iraq. Situated at the confluence of the Tigris and Khosr rivers, Nineveh was an important junction for commercial routes between the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean. Wealth flowed into it from many sources, so that it became one of the greatest of all ancient cities. On verso is a three quarter page illustration of a family tree with numerous portraits. On a full sheet of Latin text.
