This rare title page is printed in red and black ink with a finely engraved scene (7.5 x 5.3") centered around a huge floor globe showing the Eastern Hemisphere. On the left of the globe are a group of European explorers, with a day sky in the background. A group of native peoples of Africa stand on the opposite side with a night sky background. Jehovah in Hebrew script is engraved at top center. This fine engraving, by Jean Picart, represents the discovery, and therefore the enlightenment, of Africa by the Europeans.
