This uncommon atlas was published to commemorate the 1893 World's Fair and Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The scale and grandeur of the fair had a profound effect on architecture, the arts, Chicago's self image and American industrial optimism. This atlas, with maps by the Chicago map-maker George Cram was distributed compliments of The Hub, of Little Falls, Minnesota (Dealers in Shoes, Dry Goods, Hosiery, Underwear, Notions, etc.) Complete with 107 maps in all, 15 of which are double-page. It includes a plan of the Exposition grounds plus a complete section on the World's Fair. There are beautiful engravings showing the Expo's buildings, local architecture, points of interest and well known monuments in the Chicago area. Folio. 194pp. Complete. Hardbound in original brown cloth with embossed gilt title on front.

Contents and maps fine. Front endpaper with pencil inscription of the original owner dated Dec. 31, 1892. Moderate wear to covers with some fraying and cloth loss at edges and corners.
