Colton's single volume folio atlas contains 102 steel engraved maps, including 10 double-page sheets, plus the frontispiece. The lovely engraved frontispiece features eight viginettes of places around the world and a world globe at the bottom with other scholarly tools. This complete atlas includes the double-page map of Texas based on de Cordoba's large map. Also with the uncommon "Nebraska and Kanzas" map, the Territories of New Mexico and Utah, and the fine map of California with a large inset detailing San Francisco. The city plans of Paris and London are uncolored, as they always are in this atlas. The atlas is complete and sound. Hardbound, frontispiece, title page, list of maps, text and maps. A great example of this atlas.
