These three engravings are from Dr. Elisha Kane's account of the expedition in search for Sir John Franklin. He served as senior medical officer on the first Grinnell expedition and led the second. This expedition passed northward through Smith Sound at the head of Baffin Bay, discovered and explored Kane Basin, and discovered Kennedy Channel beyond. Kane's expedition contributed more knowledge of Greenland than that of anyone before him.

1) The Nip Off Cape Cornelius Grinnell. Force Bay.
2) The Broken Floes Nearing Pikantlik
3) Life in the Brig
