This is a very rare map of the environs of Rome. It is extremely detailed with fortifications, mountains, roads, aqueducts, buildings, etc. The large, decorative cartouche features river gods and Romulus and Remus with the she-wolf. Antony de Winter was an engraver for Sanson 1683 -1715 and for Loots 1696-1707. This map is in Sanson's style, but there is no attribution other than De Winter's imprint at lower left.
