From the Jaillot edition of this spectacular map of Ireland, this part covers the northern reaches of Ireland down to Lough Corrib and into Dublin county to just above the city of Dublin. Filled with details, it includes towns, roads and trails, lakes and watershed, counties, and much more. This sheet has a stunning title cartouche at upper left, with coat-of-arms, lion, unicorn and other embellishments. The decorative compass rose rests in the sea off Morrisk. The map is based on Sanson's earlier map which was published in editions of "Carte Generales De La Geographie ..." from 1665 onwards. The geography in this map, as well as Sanson's earlier edition, is after Boazio and Speed.

Condition: B+

A great example with beautiful impression and full margins on thick hand laid paper. Just a hint of toning below the cartouche and along lower margin, otherwise near fine.
