"Map of the Boardwalk and Business Section of Atlantic City, N.J.",

The title of this great pocket map continues "…Showing the location of the leading Hotels, Places of Amusement, Churches, Business Houses, &c. for the year 1903." This uncommon map was published in Atlantic City by J.J. Millroy. At the sides is an extensive list of buildings and other important tourist destinations, all keyed to the map. The map shows the main boardwalk and at top is a continuation of the beach and boardwalk. Soundings tell the bathers the water depth and a red Danger Line suggests the limit for swimming. The location of the sinking of the Steamer Ranald (June 10, 1901) and the Steamer A.L. Lee (Dec. 10, 1903) are shown surprisingly close to the beach. Two vignettes show young women in a coy pose and on the beach. Folds into triple folding paper covers (3 x 6") "Millroy's Vest Pocket Map and Guide to Atlantic City and the Boardwalk." The cover contains information on tides, wind, the Absecon Light House, clubs, Legal Cab Rates, and more. One panel advertisement promotes Harper B. Smith, Kodaks and Photo Supplies. An uncommon "Vest Pocket Map."

The map is very good less some fold splits which are closed on the blank verso with archival tape. Some glue stains where pasted into cover, as issued. Cover is very good with little sign of wear by a few very light stains.
