This large bird's-eye view was created by William Olsen. It is a reduced advertising version with the addition across the top "Baltimore and Ohio America's First Railroad, Washington's First Railroad." Taken from an aerial photograph, the perspective is from just south of the Capital building looking north into rural Maryland. The map extends from Arlington National Cemetery at the upper left to the New Reservoir and Howard University at upper right. Remarkable detail, every building is shown and many named, the extensive rail system and switch yardsare depicted. A list of Buildings and Places of Interest at bottom locates more than 70 places using a grid system. On the verso is a smaller map showing the route of the Baltimore & Ohio R.R. from the east coast to Chicago, St. Louis (15 x 8.3"). A rare issue.
