Handsome, well engraved map that includes Baja and parts of the Southwest United States. The Confederate Territory of Arizona lies in the southern third of New Mexico Territory. Between August 1861 and July 1862, the Confederate General Baylor appointed himself the territorial governor and claimed all of New Mexico Territory south of the 34th Parallel for the Confederacy. The map shows all Mexican states and cities with good detail of topography and watershed. Inset of the "Territory and Isthmus of Tehuantepec." Surrounded by strapwork-style decorative border.
