Two volumes of a three volume set. Each volume is illustrated with 10 steel engraved views and numerous wood engravings. The views show the countryside, architecture and daily life of the time. Volume I, Div. II, 488 pp., covers Great Britain with chapters on abbeys and churches, the lake country, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, castles and the Grampian Mountains. Volume III, Div. V, 254 pp., covers Norway, Spain, France, Italy, Sweden and the Black Forest. Hardbound in original black cloth covered boards with gilt title on front and spine.

Some damp stains confined primarily to blank margins of plates. Covers also with some damp staining, scuffing and shelf wear. There is some loss to the cloth on each. Vol. III's back cover is detached from the spine. The bindings are sound.
