This is the first Spanish edition of this popular description of the early United States. This example was translated from the original French version by Roux de Rochelle. It contains numerous engravings depicting Indian ceremonies, prominent buildings, colleges, native flora and fauna, the American Revolution, Washington's tomb, city plans, and portraits of important American leaders. Bound into the front is a foldout map of Etats-Unis (9 x 7") that shows topography and watershed, cities, towns, settlements and Indian lands. This map identifies Texas as Sn. Luis de Potosi and Texas. The map is uncolored and was produced by Thunot Duvotenay. 389 pages. 12 mo. Hardbound in original marbled brown leather covers with gilt title on spine.
