1) This is the Ohio edition of Colton's Common School Geography featuring a section devoted to the state and including two additional maps. The title continues: "...Illustrated by numerous engravings and 22 study maps, drawn expressly for this work and specially adapted to the wants of the class-room. To which are added 2 full page railroad maps, showing the chief routes of travel, and a complete series of 12 commercial and reference maps of the United States." Sheldon and Company, New York, 1881. 153 pp., quarto. Hand colored. Hardbound in original pictorial paper covered boards with leather spine. Contents have some damp staining and uneven toning. Covers and spine are well worn with some loss, binding is good.

2) New York edition of the Natural School Geography with a 12-page section on the state and an additional double-page map. There are 40 single-page, and 7 double-page maps of the world and continents. The colorful maps are nicely detailed examples that are all drawn on the same scale to show proper size comparisons to the student. The book is thoroughly illustrated with black and white engravings and photographs showing landscapes, buildings, people, wildlife and more. American Book Company, New York, 1907. Printed color. 198 pp. including supplemental pages in the back. 4to. Hardbound in original brown cloth covered boards with stamped, printed title on front. Contents generally good with an occasional finger mark. The map of New York has several edge tears repaired with clear tape on verso, and a 3" fold separation along the centerfold. Covers have some shelf wear with some loss, and are starting to separate from the spine. There is some loss of material at the extremities of the spine. The binding is good.
