1) A Household Atlas of the World contains 117 nice maps by Rand McNally & Co. Of the maps, 38 are double-page, and 67 are of U.S. interest. Many of the maps include insets, and each features an index in its margin. The atlas provides information on world population, the solar system, and the national debt of foreign countries compared with the United States. At the back of the atlas is a reprint of the U.S. Constitution, along with portraits of the individuals who signed the document, and portraits of all American presidents through William McKinley. Published in 1898 by John Wannamaker, Philadelphia. Complete with 192 pages. Small folio. Hardbound in original green cloth with decorative title in gilt and dark green on cover. (11.5 x 14.5"). Maps are all very good with only some occasional marginal soil. The signatures are loosening, and the front cover and spine are separated from the binding. The front endpaper is loose and chipped along the outer edge. Covers and spine are well worn with scuffing and soiling. There is some splitting with loss to the extremities of the spine.

2) The World An Atlas is a very attractive, complete atlas containing 34 double-page maps of the world and continents. Featuring maps with early printed color and simple borders, this uncommon atlas includes a 45-page index and a decorative title page with a colored vignette of a globe and fancy flourishes to the text. The Chart of the World shows British possessions in red, along with details like shipping routes, ocean currents, and submarine telegraph lines. The lengths of the world's rivers, and the heights of its mountains are displayed in the margins surrounding the World in Hemispheres map. (7.5 x 11.5"). Johnston, A. K., Edinburgh, 1876. 8vo. Hardbound in original green cloth covered boards with a decorative gilt and black title on front. Contents generally very good with some marginal toning and soiling. Map of France has a 2" tear in lower margin, reaching into image. Covers are worn and have some loss along edges and at the extremities. Spine and binding are softening.
