This nicely detailed map depicts southern Holland in ancient times. It shows the course of the Rhine, Waal and Bergsche Rivers to the North Sea. Beautifully engraved with a large cartouche featuring a battle scene and the two Frisian leaders, Verritus and Malorix. Mensone Alting was the burgomeister of Groningen and the author of 'Descriptio Frisiae', the first history of the Netherlands.
