An uncommon and early map of England during the period of the Heptarchy, showing the seven nations of the early Anglo-Saxons. The map is labeled with names that purport to be in an Anglo-Saxon script, with a key at the upper left to helpfully decode the names. The map is adorned with a spectacular compass rose, a finely engraved cartouche, as well as vigorous sea monsters and ships in the ocean. Only one other example of this map has appeared in any price guides for the last 25 years.
