An uncommon pocket map with maps printed on both sides of a single sheet of banknote paper. The maps are richly hand colored and embellished with decorative borders and fancy Victorian-style titling. The main map shows the New York area to Georgetown, Connecticut in the northeast and to Trenton, New Jersey in the southwest. It is filled with cities, the routes of railroads, with much detail including cemeteries, factories, and other places of note. The map on the verso is smaller (16.5 x 22.5"), and it shows Manhattan to about 105th street. The map extends to detail Brooklyn and a portion of Jersey City. Engraved by Fiske & Russell. The sheet folds into brown embossed cloth boards, with the title gilt-stamped (4 x 6.5"). Inside front cover is the original paper label offering other maps by Lloyd & Company.

Condition: B

The impression and color are fine, with full margins. The maps have virtually no flaws, but do have two fold separations, one is quite long. Front board is detached from the map. An attractive map that will benefit from some simple conservation.
