"Atlas Novus Terrarum Orbis Imperia, Regna et Status…", Homann, Johann Baptist

This large elaborately engraved sheet has numerous allegorical figures gathered in front of a large globe showing the Eastern Hemisphere. In the background, an old man and a young man are standing on the globe supporting the heavens. On the left is a sunrise with several birds, and on the right is the night sky with the moon, owls and bats known to hunt under cover of darkness.

A dark impression with nice original color. Three margins have paper added to extend and reinforce them. There are a few short tears into the engraving with archival tape repairs on the verso, and a few faint stains.
