This unusual school geography was written by Rev. J. Goldsmith, revised by Hugh Murray and published by Longman, Brown, Green & Longmans, London. It contains seven of eight folding maps, with the map of Africa missing, and numerous plates showing astronomy, and views of the various cities and cultures of the world. A volvelle coelestis graces the frontis and 16 pages of amusing advertisements complete the book. Although this edition is undated, the large Arkansas Territory and an apparently independent Texas on the map of North America date this publication to circa 1836. 18 mo. 230pp. Hardbound in original red cloth with gilt title on front cover.

Condition: A

Remarkably good condition for a child's textbook. Text and maps with bright impressions and a couple very minor binding tears. Some pencil marks inside front cover. Binding slightly loose at the front endpaper, otherwise very tight and sound. Covers show only slight shelf wear and bumping to corners.
