Charming little map with a fair amount of detail along the Horn of Africa, reflecting colonial trading interests. The Ptolemaic sources for the Nile are shown in the mythical twin lakes of Zaire and Zaflan below the Equator . The map is decorated with a strapwork title and scale cartouche incorporated together. Titled above the map Hondius his Map of the Abissine Empire, on a sheet of English text, (7 x 11").
