Charming map of western Africa featuring the Sahara Desert, the Niger River and the coasts of Guinea, Benin, etc. The map is filled with interior detail, some of which is spurious, such as the course and lakes along the Niger River. Engraved by Antoine d' Winter for a Dutch edition of Sanson's pocket atlas. The map is completed by a lovely, wreath style cartouche.

A nice impression on a sound sheet of laid paper. There is a very faint damp stain in the lower corners, well away from the map.
