"Pennsylvania", De Silver, Robert

This rare issue is an updated map after Matthew Carey, published by the little-known Robert De Silver of Philadelphia. Counties are delineated in original hand coloring. The map shows the wagon roads, trails, villages and towns, watershed and relief in hachure. Title is in extremely fancy lettering. DeSilver's imprint is at bottom below the neatline. The prime meridians of Philadelphia and London are used. Folds into original red covers with gilt title "U. States." Ristow has no information on Robert De Silver. A scarce pocket map.

Condition: B+

Strong color and impression. The map is very nice with just a few spots, adhesive stain at left, and one fold backed with archival tape on verso. Covers are worn and a little warped.
