"Gray's Atlas Map of New Mexico and Arizona", Gray, O. W.

This is one of the better early atlas maps depicting Arizona Territory. There are only five counties in Arizona, namely Mohave, Yuma, Pima, Yavapai, and a large Maricopa that extends all the way to New Mexico. At this point in time Tucson is shown as the capital. The counties of New Mexico suggest a date of 1872 or '73 because Santa Ana county has not yet merged into Bernalillo. The map shows villages, the major mining towns, many forts and much more. A few railroads are delineated, including the Texas & Pacific, Denver & Rio Grande, and the Atlantic & Pacific. A great map published about 10 years after the creation of Arizona Territory.
