This is a finely engraved and detailed map of the French colony of Louisiana extending from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico and Nouveau Mexique, with Santa Fe and S. Jerome de Taos. Many Indian place names, forts and early European settlements are shown, including F. Chicagou (Chicago) on Lake Michigan, as well as the colonies of Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. A delicate title cartouche fills the upper left corner.
