The 198-page "Report of the Commission to the Five Civilized Tribes" and its accompanying seven foldout maps that illustrate the progress of the allotment work, is perhaps the most important of the three sections. The printed color maps include: 1) Indian Territory Showing Railroad Systems, June 30, 1904; 2) Map of Seminole Nation ; 3) Creek & Seminole Nations Indian Territory (24" x 25.5"); 4) Map Showing progress of Allotment in Cherokee Nation (25.5" x 35"); 5) Map of Choctaw Nation Indian Territory (33" x 36.5"); 6) Map of Choctaw Nation Indian Territory Coal and Asphalt Segregation and Pine Timber of Commercial Value (33" x 36.5"); and 7) Map of the Chickasaw Nation (30" x 32.5") . All maps are B+ condition. The text notes the enrollment had been ongoing for six years and that 90% of the tribe population had completed enrollment. More than 200,000 "citizens and claimants" were personally examined. Work was expected to be completed by July 1, 1905. Each claimant would receive 40 acres. The text also provides details regarding the changes in legislation that had to be taken into account, definition of terms and qualification for allotments, etc. This is an important document describing the breakup of the Indian Territory, leading up to its inclusion in the State of Oklahoma in 1907. Complete volume with 896 pp, 8vo. Hardbound in original sheepskin with gilt titling over red and black bands on spine.

Text pages are clean and bright. Covers have a couple abrasions, hinges good, spine is a bit scuffed with some loss to part of the black band. Binding is sound and signatures tight.
