"Texas", Colton, Joseph Hutchins

This is Colton's only edition of his map of Texas on a single sheet. This handsome map has extensive detail throughout the settled part of the state. The western third is comprised of the large unsettled areas of Presidio, El Paso, Bexar and the Staked Plain. It locates railroads, forts, post offices, roads, springs, and topographical detail. Two insets; Plan of Galveston Bay from the U.S. Coast Survey, and Plan of Sabine Lake. Colton's decorative scroll borders accent the page.

Condition: A

Nice original hand color on a sheet with some very minor irregular toning. The margins have been trimmed, but are still sufficient for framing. Couple of short, marginal tears, not affecting the map.
