Superb map of Sicily showing its political divisions and fine detail of topography, cities, towns and villages, naming Messina, Palermo and extending to include the Aeolian Islands. Jaillot based this map on Sanson's earlier map of the island. The erupting Aetna is graphically depicted and a small vignette of a volcano sits below the decorative cartouche.
