An attractive pair of county maps, spanning the 17th and 19th centuries.

1) Somerset Shire by Robert Morden is an attractive map of the county of Somerset in the southwest of England. The map is filled with names of towns and pictorial depictions of forests, cities and towns, including a simplified plan of Bristol. An elegantly engraved aquatic cartouche completes the composition. This map was created circa 1695 (16 x 14").
2) Cambridgeshire from a Trigometrical Survey by Chas. Mason D.D. is a crisp county map with simple detail of the roads, towns and rivers as well as mines and dykes. Engraved by Neele, published by Cadell & Davies. (9 x 14")

Map 1 has a nice impression on sturdy paper with folds as issued and attractive later color. Narrow but adequate margin at right. Map 2 also has a nice impression with later color. One small printer's smudge, still a clean example.
