Four separate, unjoined sheets make up this map of the developing United States. It provides an excellent view particularly of the American West and the large western territories of Oregon and Missouri. Texas is listed as a state, however only a portion of its border is colored, leaving the western extent undefined. The key names the states and territories, the number of counties, their area and population as of 1840. Each sheet is (13.5 x 10.3").
