A lovely and unusual atlas filled with 106 wax engraved, hand colored maps and diagrams, most with decorative borders and some with vignettes. There are 22 double page, and 74 single and half page maps, many of which are printed on both sides. Also featured are two pages of presidential portraits, a page depicting methods of travel, and numerous engravings showing the diverse civilizations and cultures of the world. A state by state index precedes several pages of tables and a North polar map to complete the atlas. Small Folio, 208 pp. Original hardbound with embossed brown cloth boards. Decorative title stamped on front cover. This difficult to find atlas will benefit from professional rebinding.
