Dramatic map of the Roman Empire centered on the Mediterranean and covering most of Europe, Northern Africa, and the Near and Middle East. The map is richly decorated with several strapwork cartouches, two containing portraits. The cartouches in the lower section of the map contain an account of Roman history, including a large genealogical tree of the rulers of Rome, and a quote from Vitruvius appears along the top. Latin text on verso.

Condition: B

Nice impression with slightly faded original color. Paper repair in centerfold margin, slight abrasion of two areas on lower centerfold in map. Light mat burn in generous, original margins.
