A pair of beautiful steel engravings of northern Asia. The maps are nicely detailed and enclosed in delicately engraved borders. The map of China has vignettes of British Factories - Canton, Hong Kong, a pagoda, Chinese Soldiers, and two showing the native costumes. The map of Tartary extends from the Caspian Sea to Lake Balkach. Three vignettes of Tartars including a fascinating scene of the marriage custom of chasing the bride on horseback.
