This large and important atlas is complete with approximately 50 colorful thematic maps, many double-page, plus many more thematic graphs and tables. Schwartz & Ehrenberg commended an earlier edition of this atlas saying it was a "pioneering work [and] was the first atlas of analytical maps that showed the patterns of associations and it greatly influenced the development of thematic mapping in the Untied States." This edition is by Henry Gannett. Folio, cloth covers with gilt titling, leather spine, text, plus plates. An important atlas that needs a little care.

References: Schwartz & Ehrenberg p. 303.

Pages are a little brittle with some short tears in margins and abrasion to foredge at lower corner. Plate 59 and 60 are cleanly split in half. Owner's book plate inside front cover.
