This atlas deals strictly with Switzerland; showing the entire region on 24 double-page engraved maps, each measuring approximately 20"x 28". Each map is well engraved with extreme detail throughout, right down to individual structures outside the cities and towns. These maps were completed between 1833 and 1864 and each is separately dated. Each chart has a discretely placed embossed stamp for the 'Eidgenossischen military archiv." This is the Swiss version of Dufour's Atlas de la Suisse. There is not a list of maps. The existing maps are numbered II though XXV with I not present. The last map includes a large table listing hundreds of towns and villages with their elevation in meters. Hardbound in green cloth with leather spine and tips, leather label with title in gilt, title page, twenty-four double-page maps. A rare and desirable atlas that should be rebound.
