This is a very scarce regional map prepared for Peter the Great's survey and published by the Geographic Department of the Imperial Academy of Science. It shows the northeastern part of Siberia, the Chukchi peninsula and part of Kamchatka. Although still imprecise in many places, especially in the northeast of the Chukchi peninsula where there is a large unknown land mass, it was a vast improvement over previous maps of the region.
