This is a nearly flawless sectionalized linen backed map that folds into green cloth covers (6-1/2"x 9") with the title in embossed gilt lettering. The cover is further embellished with blind-stamp embossing and Andriveau-Goujon's logo featuring a globe in gold and light green. The Civil War period map is very detailed with attractive full pastel coloring. The West shows the political rarity of Colona in today's Colorado. With superb provisional western territorial boundaries including Dagotah Territory laying in the region between Minnesota and the Missouri River, Nebraska taking in the rest of the region up to the Rocky Mountains, and the huge Utah Territory stretching between California and Colona. The large territory of New Mexico has lost it's southern third to General Baylor's short-lived Confederate Territory of Arizona. Washington stretches all the way to the Continental Divide. Oregon has gained statehood but lost its eastern lands, destined to eventually become the southern portion of Idaho, but here named Shoshone and only extending up to Washington; a configuration we've not seen before. The map details major wagon and emigrant roads, railroads, forts and much more. It extends to show all of Mexico, Guatemala and the Caribbean. Insets of the Petite Antilles, Central America, the Atlantic Ocean, and Long Island. With original Andriveau-Goujon paper label attached to linen on verso of map. This is one of the most fascinating maps we've seen from this period and its condition is remarkable.

Condition: A+

In amazing condition, this map and its cover appear nearly new. There are a few spots on the verso of the map in the linen, but the map is fine.
